Blockchain signature: the seal that makes documents verifiable over time

When a document is important (minutes, report, SAL, work order, checklist), it’s not enough to “have it”: you must be able to prove that it hasn’t been altered and that it already existed on a given date. With Mela you can apply a blockchain seal to documents: a technical proof of integrity and timestamp that makes any subsequent modification detectable.

In short: what it does and why it benefits you

The Mela blockchain signature (seal / notarization) allows you to:

  • anchor a document to a blockchain network through a digital fingerprint (hash)
  • associate a date and time to the anchoring
  • make it verifiable that the document has not been modified afterward

Ideal for: meeting minutes, work progress reports (SAL), safety checklists, deliveries, disputes, photographic evidence.

What it is exactly (no technical jargon)

When you apply the blockchain seal, Mela generates a unique fingerprint of the document (like a mathematical “license plate”).
That fingerprint is recorded on the blockchain.

If someone tries to modify even a single comma in the document:

  • the fingerprint changes
  • and the verification fails

Result: the document remains accessible as usual, but you also gain a technical proof that makes it much more defensible in case of disputes.

How it works (easy in 4 steps)

1) Create or upload the document in Mela
Examples: site supervisor / safety coordinator minutes, work progress reports (SAL), checklists, photographic reports.

2) Collect signatures / acknowledgements (if required)
In your workflow, people can sign on site or approve remotely.

3) Apply the blockchain seal
With a single action, Mela anchors the document fingerprint to the blockchain.

4) Verification always available
At any time you can prove:

  • that the document already existed on that date
  • and that it has not been altered after anchoring

When to use it (real-world cases)

⚖️ Site Supervisor & Safety Coordinator

  • Inspection reports and coordination meeting minutes
  • Prescriptions and closures with supporting evidence
  • Disputes and reservations
  • Work progress reports with attachments

Why it helps: reduces ambiguity and makes the project history more solid.

👷 Construction company

  • Signed daily reports
  • Delivery notes (DDT), attachments, and photo reports
  • Partial deliveries and “visible” works
  • Non-conformities and corrective actions

Why it helps: if staff changes or a dispute arises, you can reconstruct events much more clearly.

🏢 Client / Contracting authority

  • Documents that must stand up over time
  • Audits and inspections with full traceability

Technical details

Mela records the hash of the document on the blockchain (not the content).
The document itself remains in Mela’s systems or in your archives, while the blockchain stores the fingerprint and timestamp.

This approach protects confidentiality and enables verification without exposing the document.
